Abstract

This paper explores the use of ETC in DC-DC buck and boost converters connected to Constant Power Loads (CPLs). A co-design approach is proposed for developing event-based control strategies, aiming to minimize the frequency of events and maximize the interval between them. An optimization problem with Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) constraints is formulated for the co-design, ensuring the reduction of the number of generated events. Furthermore, the paper demonstrates the existence of a positive minimum interval between consecutive events to avoid Zeno behavior. Computational simulations are conducted to assess the performance of the converters under different dynamic and static ETC conditions, with three simulation scenarios defined to analyze the converters’ behavior and the effects of ETCs under various conditions.
