Abstract

This study investigated the potential of wind and solar energy in Casa Nova - BA, using the WRF atmospheric model and analysis of large volumes of data. The results indicate a favorable airflow for wind generation, with consistent speeds between 6 and 9 m/s and stability in wind direction, mainly from the east-southeast sector, suggesting less intermittency. Solar radiation is intense, especially near the Sobradinho hydroelectric reservoir, indicating potential for a floating solar power plant. There was also evidence of complementarity between energy sources, with interdependence throughout the day and seasons. Casa Nova has great potential for renewable energy generation, which could drive sustainable development in the region, bringing significant economic, environmental, and social benefits.
