Abstract

The active electronic load (AEL) is an equipment that can emulate, in controlled manner, several loading profiles (linear and nonlinear) and, thus is used to perform loading tests in equipment. In order to work properly, the AEL needs a well tunned control strategy to ensure good dynamic and static performance. In this context, this work proposes utilizing a multivariable control strategy using a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) with a resonant parcel to control a regenerative AEL used to perform tests in power transformers. The control strategy is validated through a computational simulation of the proposed system using the PLECS platform.
