Abstract

This study evaluates the dynamic performance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the Brazilian Bulk Transmission Network, considering grid-following (GFL) and grid-forming (GFM) control technologies. The analysis focuses on the influence of BESS location, control technology, and operating state. Dynamic simulations were performed with Organon software for thousands of power flow cases constructed from stochastic scenarios generated by the SDDP software. The proposed methodology provides a novel and comprehensive approach to power system stability assessments.
