Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of islanding protection strategies implemented in industrial electrical systems, focusing on a petroleum refining unit. The study addresses islanding detection techniques, connection protection schemes, and load shedding systems, aiming to ensure the continuity and safety of the power supply. A detailed case study is presented, including electromechanical transient simulations conducted in the ANATEM software to validate the islanding protection settings. The results show that the implemented settings provide adequate sensitivity for islanding detection and tripping, ensuring the stability and protection of the industrial electrical system during grid disturbances.
